About the house

La Maison de L'Olivier (Olive Cottage) is a pretty 17th Century terraced house in the old town of Eymet. Located in the rural Dordogne of South West France Eymet is only 20 minutes drive from Bergerac airport.

 

The house is located 300m away from Place de Gambetta (the central square) and the main Boulevard. Together they offer a large variety of restaurants and attractions, plus the lure of all the vineyards and wine tastings only minutes drive from the town.

Downstairs

You enter the house into the large living room and pass through to the spacious kitchen.

 

From the kitchen French doors open onto a fully enclosed, private courtyard with a BBQ and table and chairs.

There is a terracotta tiled Neptune kitchen with solid oak worktops, Belfast sink and dresser.  It is fully equipped with an induction hob, oven, kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge. There is a family size table and 6 chairs. The kitchen is fully stocked with cutlery and crockery.  

There is an extremely spacious living room with two sofas and a wood burning stove. There is a coffee table, a French sideboard, and fully stocked oak bookshelves. The room has modern wooden flooring throughout and a newly installed oak staircase to the first floor.

Upstairs

On the first floor are three spacious bedrooms, a large bathroom and a laundry room. Each has a bright outlook and exposed beams. Two beds are king size and one a double. We provide high quality bedding and pillows. All rooms have chest of drawers for storage.

There is a large traditional bathroom with a bath and a shower. The room is full of character with original exposed beams and a large sink with storage unit underneath.

Terrace & facilities

Terrace

The ground floor courtyard is a quiet and private space. It is bright, yet shaded enough. It has a BBQ and tables and chairs. Its is perfect for a peacefully breakfast or evening drink.

The house has a TV with UK channels and radio. There is a bluetooth speaker.

There is a child's travel cot, washing machine and ironing board.

The house is protected with smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

We accept pets upon request.

 

Amanda who looks after the house is on hand during the daytime in the event of any queries.

Region

Region

The Dordogne is famous for food, wine, beautiful landscapes and Bastide villages. Eymet is a pretty 13th Century village with an amazing offering of restaurants, shops and events. 

In just a short drive you can visit the châteaus of Monbazillac, Biron and Duras, or take a wine tasting at the extraordinary number of vineyards. The large town of Bergerac is only 20 minutes drive, as is Bergerac airport.

Centred around the Place de Gambetta, Eymet is a town of around 2,000 inhabitants. At the last count there were 17 restaurants, bars and cafes.

Food and wine are hugely important in the region of France. There are some amazing traditional restaurants locally, yet balanced with many other cuisines.

Eymet comes to life May to September. Whenever you visit there will be musical or cultural events on every week, particularly July and August.
